What we treat
Sports injuries we see every week
If yours isn't listed, book an assessment and we'll work out what is going on.
Inside the problem
How it works

Sporting injuries usually come from load meeting a body that is not ready for it: a sudden force, too much too soon, or a gap in strength or control. Good rehab fixes the injury and the reason it happened, then tests that you can handle what your sport demands before you go back.
In more detail
Common problems explained
What each one is, what it feels like and how we manage it.
Muscle strains
Tears of muscle fibres, usually from sprinting, kicking or sudden stretching, most often hamstring, calf, quadriceps or groin. Recovery depends on the grade of the strain. We protect the injury briefly, then reload it progressively, and test strength before a return to sprinting.
Ligament sprains
Stretching or tearing of the ligaments that stabilise a joint, common in the ankle, knee, shoulder and thumb. Early guided movement, strengthening and balance work usually give better results than long rest, and we advise when a specialist opinion is worth having.
Tendon overload injuries
Pain in a tendon such as the Achilles, patellar tendon or rotator cuff from load beyond what it is conditioned for. It responds to progressive loading and training changes, but can take months.
Return to sport testing
Time alone is a poor guide to readiness. We use strength, hop and movement testing, comparing one side to the other, to decide when you are ready to return.
How we help
Our four-step approach
Every plan is built around your problem, your work and your goals.
Assess
We assess the injury, how you move and what your sport demands, and tell you if a scan or specialist is worth discussing.
Explain
You'll know what is injured, what you can keep training and what to avoid.
Treat
Hands-on treatment and exercises to settle pain and restore movement and strength.
Rebuild
A staged return-to-sport program with strength and movement testing, so decisions are based on measurements, not just time.
Our hydrotherapy pool can help in the early stages when loading is sore.
Questions
Before you book
Do I need a scan before I come?
No. Your physio will assess you first and let you know if imaging or a specialist opinion is worth discussing with your doctor.
How do you decide when I can play again?
We combine how the injury feels with strength, movement and sport-specific testing, then agree a staged plan with you.
Can you work with my surgeon?
Yes. Bring your surgeon's instructions and operation report and we will work to them.
What happens at the first appointment?
Initial appointments are 60 minutes, so there is time for a thorough assessment. We assess the problem, explain what is going on, start treatment and give you a clear plan. No referral needed.
Can I claim on my health fund?
Yes. If your extras cover includes physio, you can claim on the spot with HICAPS and only pay the gap. We also see Medicare care plan, WorkCover, CTP, DVA and NDIS patients.
