Simon Yelland
Simon Yelland graduated in Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney in 1984. He also has a Science degree from the University of Queensland with majors in physiology and anatomy. He has had extensive practice in public hospitals in Australia (including the Gold Coast Hospital) and the United Kingdom. He has been a lecturer at the University of Sydney and Clinical Supervisor for the University of Queensland where he also conducted Masters of Physiotherapy research into manipulative physiotherapy techniques and their effect on the sympathetic nervous system. Simon also taught anatomy on the initial Exercise Science courses at the new School of Exercise Science, Griffith University, Gold Coast Campus when it commenced in 1992.
Simon is a manual therapist. He has run his own practice in Nerang for 21 years. His practice offered services in rooms, private hospitals and aged care facilities. He has worked with orthopaedic and neuro surgeons and has extensive experience in post operative care of the spinal surgery patient. Simon has an interest in managing cervicogenic headaches, having studied under Dean Watson. He has also studied the Michael Ridgway technique which he has found helpful in managing chronic pain. Simon did run clinics for chronic and persistent pain clients in his practice in Nerang. Simon sold his practice in Nerang in 2017 and moved temporarily to Lancashire, England for three years where he worked in a practice that specialised in managing sports injuries of mountain runners and cyclists. Covid 19 has brought him back to Australia and he has enjoyed working at Focus on Physio, with all the facilities that it offers.
